Input & Output Devices

 .

Input Device

The device which is used to input data of input are called input devices. The data input to a computer can be in the form of text, audio, video etc.

Types of Input devices which are given bellow :
1. Keyboard : Keyboard is input device which is used for entering text latter or character to the computer. Standard keyboard contains 101 keys which are arranged in the same order as a typewriter.

2. Mouse : Mouse is a pointing device which is used to position cursor on screen, move an object by dragging or select an object by clicking. Mouse is am small hand held device having two button on its upper side and small wheel between the buttons.

3. Joystick :  Joystick is a device which is commonly used for playing video games. Joystick is mainly used to control the speed of the cursor and is thus popular in games involving speed like racing and flying games.

4. Digitizing Tablet : Digitizing Tablet is an input device used primarily to input drawing, sketches etc. It is used for computer Aided Design (CAD) for the design of building, automotive designs and designing of maps etc.

5. Microphones : Microphone is an audio input device which provided to the computer using human voice or speech. It can used for making telephone calls, for audio and video conferencing over internet, to record voice, to  create audio file and etc.

6. Camera : Camera is a video/image input device which provide to computer using digital camera. Digital camera digitize images, compress them and store them on a memory card like flash memory.

7. Scanner :  Scanner is an input device that accept paper document as an input. Scanner is used to input data directly into the computer from the source document without copying and typing the data. The input data to be scanner can be a picture, a text of a mark on a paper.

Output Devices

The device which provide result to the user, which generated after processing are called output device. Output device receives information from computer in a machine readable form.
Types of Output devices which are given bellow :
1. Monitor : Monitor is a common output device which provides along with the computer to view the displayed output. A monitor is of two kinds monochrome display and color displayed output.

2. Printer :  A printer prints the output information from the computer onto a paper. Printer generally used to print textual information but nowadays printers also print graphical information.

3. Plotter : A Plotter is used for vector graphics output to draw graphs, map, blueprints of ships, buildings etc. Plotters draw continuous and accurate lines, in contrast to printers where a line is drawn as closely spaced dots.

4. Projector : Projector is an output device that displays information from the computer onto a large white screen. The projector is mainly used to display visual output to a larger gathering of people required for the purposes of  teaching, training, meetings, conference presentations etc.

5. Speaker : Speaker, headset or headphone is used for audio output sound form computer. Audio response is used by visually impaired to read information from the screen. For speech impaired people, audio response helps them to communicate with other people.

Introduce Linux, UNIX and Linux distribution.

. Linux Linux is an open source operating system. The term Linux is actually referred to mean a kernel of Unix like operating system developed by a Finish software architect Linus Torvald. The name Linux is derived from Linus' Unix. Linux was originated from the inspiration of a small Unix like operating system MINIX by A.S Tanenbum. Linux is a complete multiuser, multiprocessing, secure and stable operating system which is also considered as UNIX clone. However no code from the proprietary from AT and T is included in Unix. It has flavor of Unix but is not Unix. UNIX  UNIX is a layered operating system. The innermost layer is the hardware that provides the service for the OS. The operating system, referred to in UNIX as the kernel, interacts directly with the hardware and provides the services to the user program. These user programs don't need to know anything about the hardware. They just need to know how to interact with the kernel and it's up to the kernel to provide ...

Introduction of Computer

.  A computer is an electronic device. It take input and store the data in memory and performing the function to produce accurate result in output device. It is used to type document, send email, play game, browse the web and entertainment.   Characteristics of computer  1 . High speed  Computer is very fast device. It is capable of performing calculation of very large amount of data. The computer has unit of speed in microsecond, nanosecond and even in picosecond. The computer is capable of performing millions of tasks per second. 2. Accuracy  The computer produces highly accurate and reliable result.  It does not make any kind of mistake in calculating. The calculation are 100% error free. The computers perform accurate 'n' number of times. 3. Storage capability A computer has much more storage capability. It can store large amount of data. It can store any type of data such as image, video, text document, audio and many more. 4. Diligence Diligence ...

Open System Interconnect (OSI) Reference Model

. Open system interconnection (OSI) Model explains how packet travels through various layers to other devices on a network, even if the sender and destination have different types of network media. Layer 1(Physical layer):  Function  To activate, maintain, deactivate the physical connection.  To define voltage and data rates needed for transmission.  To convert the digital bits into electrical signals.  To decide weather the transmission the transmission is simplex, half or full duplex.  Physical layer doesn’t perform the detection and correction of errors. Layer 2 (Datalink layer):  Framing (stream of bits into manageable data units):  The datalink layer divides the stream of bits received from the network layer into frame manageable data units called frames.  Physical addressing (MAC Address):  Data link layer adds a header to header to the frame to define the sender and receiver of the frame. Flow Control (mechanism for overwhel...
